I think it’ll be great when the female gamer population matches up with the male population. This video is great, and I hope someday girls will enjoy getting into games as much as guys. It’s always fun to try to get a girl friend to play and they actually enjoy the game. Honestly, I think every guy would love a girl that can sit down and play a game with them every now and then, and knowing that they enjoy it. It’s not fun if they’re not having fun.
What about the corpus callosum? Women have a corpus callosum (the part of the brain that links the left and the right sides of the brain) one third larger than that of a man’s. This is why women’s actions have more emotional process and why men tend to be either 100% analytical or intuitive at different given times. When you play an FPS you usually have to be 100% intuitive to be effective in-game. That could be a generalized reason why more guys play FPSs while girls tend to play RPGs.
_____Dude, you sound like a Salarian! It’s like the Mass Effect universe has come into MY universe and stuff. Could you post a picture of yourself? No, you won’t? C’mon! I promise the UN won’t try to take you away in their black helicopters to perform experiments on you in Area 51. Even if they did, you’d enjoy the ride. And even at the end of the trip, they’ll use PLENTY of drugs compatible with your alien biochemistry as so you won’t feel a thing. Just ask Elvis Presley.
This is excellent!! Lol, my first games had been the little mermaid & the sims. Now fast forward to present day, I’m all about Ninja Gaiden & the Doa games. I even like the doax2 series XD but more so Ninja Gaiden cause I love me some Ryu Hayabusa!
But pushing pink controllers and games like ‘Imagine Baby Sunshine Teachers’ isn’t anything to commend. I’m a girl and that sort of thing is more insulting than exciting me – now in my younger years I’d be lying if I said that I never played Barbie Fashion Designer or Catz, but I also played Zelda and Chrono Cross. The Ubisoft games are setting the idea of female gamers back even further.
He does have a point if more women could become more comfortable with playing the games us guys play ALL THE TIME then who knows maybe new forms of gaming everyone could enjoy could be created idk im not good at giving examples or maybe more people could find people that they could spend their lives with and not end up alone and feel like a complete outcast again idk
Can I also say that I think this video is underrated? 117 300 is awesome, but for the amount of thought put into only a ten-minute time frame, it deserves more.
It’s nice that the industry is showing interest towards female gamers, but they’ve still got a ways to go in overcoming the female/male wall. Right now, though, a lot of female gamers will have to be patient and highly tolerant of the gaming industry (ex. Pony Village! Made by AND for GIRLS!). I am thankful for growing up with two brothers, or else I never would’ve met my first loves: Counter Strike, Zelda, Smash Brothers, and Prince of Persia. Excellent video [favourites].
I have to admit, I was skeptical about this 10 minute video. But By the end, I wanted to give a standing ovation (I did in my mind, I assure you).
Not drawing gender lines anymore is a great point. I don’t like pink at all. I’m 100% more likely to buy a black/white Xbox controller than a pink one (I think other females can agree with me?). Therefore, I think pink controllers shoudn’t be advertised as ‘controllers for female gamers’; rather, they’re ‘controllers for people who like pink’.
The perfect game for a girl would probably be one with very simple, smooth and easy mechanics, with great, interesting characters and an engrossing story. Long tale short, a Mario game with characters and a story on par with Uncharted 1+2. I mean can you imagine Mario and Peach having the same back and forth as Nathan and Elena?
Most guys aren’t “gamers” either, if you asked your male friends to recite the release order of the Zelda series they’d look at you with a blank stare. They know one genre, FPS, and one console, We’ll assume Xbox. They don’t know what an Atari is, they can’t recite the contra code, or know what level you can class change in fire emblem..
Well, unless you turn Oprah, shopping malls and soaps into games an make it fun for woman. I really don’t see them being into it. I really don’t see how most woman would care. It seems it’s just not their thing. Not that woman don’t have an imaginations, I just feel maybe they think it’s boring some how. The whole thing with woman using the games as marketing what can I say how true.
I think women are also looking for something different in a game. My favourite part of playing a game is being immersed in a great story such as Knights of the Old Republic or Mass Effect. If we continue improving the depth of our games, I think a lot more women will be interested in playing them.
Sidenote: As a girl gamer I’m not particularly offended by sexed up female characters – there are usually some ridiculously sexy guy characters to balance them
i totally get what ur saying and i agree
just wanna say:

I have a feeling I’ll be piled with troll attacks, but I think RuneScape actually walks the margin between the Male and Female audience boundary.
BOTH genders can be seen as noobs!!! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Amongst several other smaller things. There just happens to be more male players is all.
