pretty soon every game will be download only, people seem to like it and it saves the comapnies money. personally i think it sucks balls and takes value away from the original copies.
While i agree that DL games are good for indie games, i have to say it seems like a bad omen of whats to come. many publishers want games to be DL only so that the used game market will die. I also dont like the fact that i cant own a physical copy of the game. what happens in 15 years when 360 and PS3 are long dead and your hard drive conks out? you lose your games. to me nothing will replace the feeling of opening a new game and reading the manual and looking at the art work.
the virtual console is one of the big reasons I love my Wii. I love being able to play classic games like Kid Icarus and Metroid that I wasn’t able to as a kid even though me and my bro had an NES and SNES it’s still good to play classic games if you don’t have the original console and/or cart. Things like WiiWare and XBLA games are also great but I wish there were more reviews for WiiWare games since you can’t get a demo of them.
I am one that has played all the Metroid games(save for Metroid II), so I do honestly feel that most of y’all are being unfair to the 3D iterations of the Metroid franchise.
It is true that some games being the way they were originally would never work in another dimensional plane, but I would like to argue that some games can work in the other dimension if implemented right.
Having said that, I’m not too sure why most of you wouldn’t think Metroid Prime doesn’t feel like a Metroid game. If my opinion is universally shared, Metroid games give a feel of exploration and isolation, and I believe the Metroid Prime trilogy has that.
I think for 360… I have more XBLA games than I do retail games lmao. I mean it has Castlevania SotN, Street Fighter 2 Hyper Fighting and HD Remix, Soul Calibur, Samurai Shodown 2, Megaman 9, Streets of Rage, TMNT Arcade game, and eventually Marvel vs Capcom 2 and my favorite fighter, Garou Mark of the Wolves. Only retail games I have now are Soul Calibur 4, Street Fighter 4, Virtua Fighter 5, Gears of War, and Devil May Cry 4. I’m too broke to get retail games lol.
I like the idea of getting to play older games but not having a hard copy really bugs me. It really puts you at the will of the company controlling the content. What happens when they go down or change and you loose all that money you put into this content and can’t play the game anymore. It’s kind of a long term rental and i am not sure i am cool with that as a collector of games.
I never understood what so good about the Metroid Prime FPS games, i played the first one on the Gamecube and it doesn’t even felt like a Metroid game for me.
Developers should stop thinking that every game is better in 3D.
Just to make things clear, a Contra will never work in 3D and a Call of Duty will never work in 2D.
Problem with emulating roms for free? People like Nintega, Toneman, and others would chew emulator fans out for not owning a 700 dollar console or buying 1,000 dollar games. No disrespect, but not all of us are millionaires. I have SOME emulators on my PC, which I haven’t played, because my controller doesn’t exactly work right now. I also try and see if compilations are coming out, then I buy them if I’m interested.
2D Metroid? Oh, yes! We need a 2D Metroid again. Better than FPS Metroid…oops, sorry. Metroid Prime. Even though the game’s not that bad, it’s not super excellent either. Platforming is a real *****.

Just what I believe

My problem is that XBL taked a massive cock from developers to have DLC that other consoles should get.
Examples: MW2 and GTA4, the best game i will own and the best game i currently own.

You should talk about DLC games being nontransferable and the lessening of value and control of owned games.

I like that you can play old games on your new consoles

“WHY? WHY? does KONAMI keep trying to make a 3D garbage of Castlevania?”
To try to move forward, because they believe if they don’t, then they don’t make money.

On the PS3? Well, my dad has one, but he won’t share it, so I suck.
